   Any one have plans for a steel knock down target for a .223 round?

Not sure exactly what you're looking for.  High Power silhouettes can be taken down by .223, all the way out to the rams, no less.

I'm looking for plans to build my own free standing steel knock down targets,hopefully one that resets itself

If you're wanting to buy, a google search should be able to find something.  If you're looking to custom make, I don't know of any particular plans, but again, google might be your friend.  You'll probably want to look at something like AR500 alloy steel plates.  A google search should be able to find some of those, too.  Then you should be able to just study the way some of the small bore resetting targets are made, scale everything up and be good.  Sorry I wasn't more helpful, but maybe this will keep the thread up long enough to get someone who can help find exactly what you're looking for.

I built the above collapsible stand and the ar500 strike plate came from metalman.

+1 for the ar500 requirement, not all steels are the same. The below pic shows what rifle rounds do to .5" a588 at 100yds
