Polish Radom P 64
« on: December 03, 2009, 01:46:20 PM »
This is closer in design to a PA-63 than it is to a Makarov.  My gun looks decent enough and is advertised as unfired.  It has a date of 1972 on the slide.  If you have one and have been using it, what kind of accuracy and reliability have you been getting?

Got one and have carried it for about 5 years now.
Observations as follows:
1. The design  is unique in that it is a clone of no other weapon. It is distinct from either the makarov or walther. Very few parts. (plus)
2. While not as slim as a PPK it is still very concelable. (plus)
3. The weapon is quite accurate, easily equal to my DDR Makarov.(plus) .....but......due to its small size and snappy chambering is is a real kicker(minus). The factory grips suck. I put a set of Marschal grips on mine and they made a big differance.
4. The SA trigger is very light and smooth (plus) but the DA is terrible (minus). I smoothed mine up and installed a new spring which brings it down to tolerable levels and still allows reliable SA firing.
5. Overall quality is very good (plus).
6. The sights are tiny (minus).
I think it is a good weapon if you are willing to put some work into it and shoot it enough to become effective with it. Also before I forget, I have never experienced a malfunction with it. I paid $139.99 about 5 years ago.
