.32 gauge Handi sighted
« on: August 05, 2009, 02:35:31 PM »
Saw an interesting Handi Rifle today, its a .32 gauge! Fact is its a CapChur rifle meant to fire darts to tranquilize large animals. The barrel is rifled with maybe one twist in its entire length. The rear sight is located on top of the chamber where normally a scope base goes. Front sight is missing. The shop that has it can't figure out what to do with it. I may snag it just for the frame. Anybody ever see one of these?

Heres a link to one for sale: http://www.gunsamerica.com/923177524/Guns-For-Sale/Gun-Auctions/Shotguns/Harrington-Richardson-Shotguns/H_R_CAP_CHU.htm

I've not seen one close up but the frame may be a Rimfire as it uses 22blanks I think to propel the dart. I could be wrong but it may be something to keep in mind. Send me a PM if you think you may want to get ride of the bbl I may have a project to try. Thanks Kurt

I'm thinking that if I come across one I may snag it , if for nothing more than to say I have one .  ;D

Does that make me a Handi-holic OR just a true gun nut ?  ;D

Huh,

I have had one for a awhile now, I inherited it from a friend that passed away, she was a large animal vet. I never have fired it, it sits in my safe waiting for me to fine some ammo for it. Never can tell if I need to dart a crook  ;) I am not even sure where to get the ammo for them.

Could you get some real 32 gauge brass and go to town?  Maybe it could be like a daddy 45-70!

I've used them several times to knock down Moose, and Bears, back when I worked with the Fed Veterinarians Office.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
