270win Vanguard ammo ?s
« on: May 12, 2010, 04:33:03 AM »
Just bought a Vanguard in 270win. I was wondering what Factory 130gr ammo has worked for you? This will be used for 300yd Mulies and Pronghorn.

Bought two boxes of 130gr Rem Core Locts to break the barrel in. Then I will try some Hornady SF 130gr SST.

From what game you are after, I suggest 140 grain, Better wind bucking capabilities, but nothing wrong with 130 bullets either. I bought 300 140 grqain 270 winchester silver tips no longer made and they really do a job on deer way out there. Winchester used these bullets in thier factory ammo for years. Jack O'Connor was an avid fan of the 270, he said a 270 would kill anything in North America. Hedied some time ago. I load for a 270 WSM Browning A-bolt and it's a tack driver. lou

Traded mine off this past year, but the SST's were it's favorite and they drop Whitetails and Mulies like they were hit with a hammer.
