I just love laws like that; how the hell are you gonna prove in court just how far away I was?

I've generally already checked to be sure it's okay for me to shoot wherever I am, so the cops that do show up just end up asking if they can shoot my guns.

i still want to get a single action, and would love to practice alot, but my neighbors have a fit even with something as quiet as a .22.  i was wondering if an accurate load could be made for a .45, and have it quieter than a .22, down to maybe pump up pellet gun levels, yet remain accurate at 10-15 yards.  is that possible?

Yrs ago, there was a guy that marketed an all bronze/brass kit to enable one to shoot airgun type pellets using a set of dummy cases and primer as the propellant. The sub-call brass barrel is rifled w/o-rings on each end so's to not scrape the host bore. Mine is in 38Spl/357M profile. At some time, I'll clean out my closet and sell the stuff I never use ~

Im fortunate to have good neigbors. They probably shoot in there yard more then i do. I dont really like doing it much as i really dont like the idea of people knowing i have what I have in the house and barn. Only one time did a state trooper come to my yard on a complaint. I was bump firing an AR one day and someone called and said a machine gun was going off. I explained to the tropper what i was doing and before he left i had to teach him how to do it! He left with a smile on his face. As to your question ive shot round balls out of a 45 colt with 1 grain of bullseye. I really dont think it was much quieter then a 22 though. It lacked the crack of a bullet going supersonic but still makes enough noise that a neighbor would hear it. Buy a bunch of fireworks and light some off every week to get the neigbors used to the noise and they probably wouldnt know the differnce.
