I finally found a factory load my sons 7600 .243 likes. It is the Winchester Supreme Ballistic Tip 95 gr. How will this round perform on deer?

Should perform great. Thats what my .243 remington 7400 likes the same bulllet. My dad shot a buck with it last year and dropped him dead in his tracks. I have not hunted with that gun since i got my .270. It was my first deer rifle and is has killed around 30-35 deer.

Yeah, the BT can be a great deer bullet in the .243, just make sure you don't try any Texas heart shots or anything involving shooting both of the shoulders out. Any rib shot will drop them within a few paces, but this bullet is not in the same class as a 100 gr. .243 partition bullet for penetration, the partition is far and away the better bullet for big game in this caliber, I have many deer and antelope that have fallen to the partition out of my .243, and I have friends whose lesser bullets have failed in the .243 and the partition has anchored their deer, should be enough said.

I will be looking at the bullets you all recommeded. Especially the Speer GS.

But Barnes X is even better. Better accuracy, better weight retention, better penetration and a more devastating wound channel. Biggest problem will be finding them in a factory load. You'll probably have to have them custom loaded.

Last year I loaded some of the Nosler 95 grain BT's for my 243 but a friend of mine talked me out of them as he needed some for season. He said that he killed 2 does and a nice 10 point with them and wants more, so I guess he was pleased with the performance. Myself I hunt with Nosler 100 grain Partitions in my 243 and have never been disapointed in the performance.

My son and I load Rem 100gr Core-Lokts and have had great results.

Grouper sandwich, not disputing your claims of accuracy out of your Barnes X-bullets by any means, but I can't get the darn things to shoot out of any of my guns, .243, .308, .30-06, or .270! I don't really need them, Partitions will do anything I need, but I've heard of very mixed results when it comes to accuracy with X-bullets, do you do anything different?
