First and formost, my name is Wade, I live in Northern Colorado. I have many hobbies to numerous to mention. I love to shoot small furry animals, and I am in love with my first Handi Rifle.
I have always been budget oriented type of guy, so I started looking for a long range varmiter in my price range (inexpensive). I was told to stay away from those single shot break open types "you will never see sub MOA with one", "the triggers suck" etc etc. Being stuborn and hard headed (poor)I decided to buy one.
I bought the ultra varmiter in the .204 It was what came in at the local gun paradise and I probably would have went for a lesser model had I a choice but this is what they had. (poor me I will suffer along somehow). I immediatly bolted a scope on with a short sighting in session thru the barrel to get it on paper. Using Hornaday 36gr V max I got it nailed down to about 3/4" @ a 100 with a set of shooting sticks. I promptly went and put it on some warmer targets, and was far and beyond impressed with what it would do to a prairie dog.
A friend and I went on a dog safari last weekend killing around 150 in a afternoon. I was using a Rossi quasi handi rifle in a .17 HMR, a Taurus PT1911 w/ Kimber 22lr conversion and my Prairie Dog Killing Machine 204 Handi Rifle (PDKM for short). Most shots from 0 to 20 with the 1911, from 20 to 150 with the .17 but past that out to 400yds were with the PDKM. I was using a laser rangefinder and found that I could decimate most anything I pointed it at. A very good example is a 316 yd shot, first one beyond 200. I put the cross hairs on his little pumpkin thinking a small amount of drop might be in order for such a distance. I squeezed the trigger and my parder squeels with joy, that I hit it. Upon closer inspection I found that there was no drop or hardly any at 300 and took the poor little fellers head right off. (sorry no pictures forgot my camera)
In short, they are very capable of Sub Moa and yes the triggers are a bit heavy but they get the job done. I am very impressed with this rifle, I would recommed it to anyone, and if anyone is in doubt of my tales of wooho, please do not hesitate to email me I would be glad, if not ecstatic to lead another prairie dog safari.
