Well, with 375 RUM ammo running $100/box, that would be a $5 hole. In light of the tough ecomomic times, lets go cheaper with the 12 gauge slug LOL

Might look like this.....(grin)

i say use a 22 rimfire.  if we are talking bang for the buck here, it should in the end mean more dead wolves per $ spent.   ;D

The problem is Myronman, there are more wolves in Wisconsin than 22 bullets on the shelves lately. ;D

Myronman, I have land about 7 miles west of Shawano and my cousin has been hearing them howling the last few years, even south of where you used to live. They are expanding their range. Five years ago noone would have believed they would be just west of Shawano.

well i guess you will have to use what you can then.  i laugh at people that love them.  they love them until they move into their area!  once they get a real taste of what they are like, theory goes out the window and reality sets in.   it is hilarious!

There used to be so many turkeys on our land it wasn't funny. Sometimes there were 60 in a flock. Now we see a few here and there. At first we thought it was the hard winters and it might have been a part of it but it has to be the wolves too.

Gawd, I enjoy a good wolf thread!  While I can't advocate for the intentional killing of all the wolves, I can advocate for the accidental killing of them all.

Wolves stay in an area until the viable food source is gone, then they move on.  If a wolf pack can't find enough deer to survive on, don't think, even for a moment, that you will be able to go out and find even one either.

The wolf is not the hunter's friend.  Heck, if a wolf attacks your grouse dog on public land, you can't harm the wolf to save your dog's life,  'course if you don't, you shouldn't even have a dog.

More wolf tracks in the fresh snow than deer tracks & it's been that way for ten years in Sawyer county.  Some places here the deer kill went down 30 percent.  Hunters predicted this the last five years.  I saw NO deer during the 9 day 2008 season hunting several places in 2 northern counties.

We have to remember that the feds are pushing the wolf restoration project, not our DNR.  I would guess the DNR supports the delisting.

isnt it funny how people that live in areas infested with wolves have the same opinion of them?   these knuckleheads that dont have them around them are the only ones who advocate for them.   why do you suppose that is???? (it is a rhetorical question)

Raise your hand if you ALWAYS carry a firearm when you go for a walk in the woods (for self defense).

My gosh, skunk, you don't even have dirt or a callus on that hand, much less blood. (A little red on that mitt would have been a good addition.)

Seriously, I have not gone into the woods any distance without a sidearm for over 35 years. Never will, either. Have had 4 bear confrontations, 3 sows with cubs, 1 very large boar that mistaked me for a grunting buck.

Liked stated earlier, if you have not the intestinal fortitude to defend your dog, stay out of the woods. Only a coward would let his pet knowingly die like that. Someone explain to me how these people pushing wolves do not care for the animals, livestock and pets that are killed. How can you let that happen, and not have a conscience about the result. These people are nuts, along with the liberals taking over the country.

LOL BT ;D You're right, that hand even looks like it belongs to a girl, so that one can be the wife's (although hers have many callouses). I put a new hand up for me. :D

Back to the wolves again,  I can't understand how people can be against hunting and  can promote wolves with total disregard for elk and deer fawns being eaten alive by wolves.

Yes, bears will too, but they are different.  Bears are being legally managed by HUNTERS.

Imagine for a moment what it must be like to be devoured while you are still alive.  If a wolf did that to my dog, he would be on his way to the promised land.  I can only hope the bear hunters are doing the right thing.

the problem is that bear dogs run big whereas your bird dog stays relatively close.  if a commotion breaks out, it will be within your sight if your dog is where it is supposed to be.  not the case with bear dogs.  by the time they get there, the only thing left is bones.   >:(

We don't have the wolf in Va. so no i don't have a dog in the fight . We are getting the yotes in number now and near where i live there are Mt Lions of all things . Seems they were released to cut deer numbers ( MT. Lion ) . Anyway things were much better when nither was here for livestock , other critters and man . Our fore fathers got rid of the varmits cause they were worthless in the first place . Seems your wolves fit the same nitch . SS&S seems the ticket , look for a thin wire !

Cheese, graphic pictures those are. Maybe we need a separate heading to discuss wolves, so the people that don't realize what can happen get informed with what is coming their way. We are kinda preaching to the choir here. Remember, the organizations pushing the numbers higher state only 5% of historic range is utilized.

The line is drawn in the sand, I've had enough. Wolf scat with deer hair. I own the woods. The liberals and government tell me what to do, what I can't do. I am conservative, I don't tell other people what to do with their lives, or land. The government tells us to leave the wolves alone, let your pet die, the wolves are more important. When are the people of this state going to get a pair? What the hell does the federal have the right to tell us what we want?

I hold the officials from the various agencys responsible for any damage to mine, or my family. They face the consequences.
