Noisy Mule
« on: August 26, 2009, 10:53:22 AM »
Our new Mule 610 sounds a lot louder than the demo we drove.  This might be because of the roof and windshield on ours.  The demo was open.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a quieter muffler available somewhere?

The roof and windshield WILL up the noise "inside", but it won't make it any noiser "outside", so it may be quieter than you think, at least on the outside.

coyote170, thanks for that info. I went to their site and I can get a bolt on adapter for my Griz 660 so no welding is required. I ordered one.

Once you add the roof and windshield, you add noise as it gets trapped inside the cab.  That is the trade off for being better protected from the elements.  A lot of what you hear is the belt drive system, which a benz or other exhaust system will not help.

They do make a sound proof kit for the interior of your Mule. Mine with the cab on is noisier inside. Your hearing engine noise. The exhaust is not any louder, actually the exhaust on the Mule is one of the quietest UTV's out there, at least my 2510 V-twin 617 is..

glockman you're right, Mules are very quiet vehicles, but that cab sure increases noise from the motor, belt drive and the little bit of exhaust sound.   It did it to my little Mule 550 when I had it, and has done the same to my Rhino.  It is a trade off, more comfort in wet or cold weather, but more noise.

I really like the Mule so I guess I'll just have to live with it.  The cab should be appreciated when I plow out the driveway this winter.  It got darn cold with the Arctic Cat ATV. ;D
