New H&R 45-70's
« on: August 13, 2009, 08:12:09 AM »
I was in my home town the earlier part of the week and stopped in the pawn shop to look around.  The owner had four H&R 45-70's for $299.95 each.  The rifles were new. Is this about the going price for these rifles (new) or was he too high.  I have been wanting to get one and have located these about 30 minutes away.
Beware of the man that carries a single shot rifle, because there won't be any warning shots!!!

That's about the going price for new  I would say within 20 bucks one way or the other.

I thought I saw some for under 250 on gunbroker the other day.  I was impressed enough to almost order one, and I don't need it.  I would imagine that if you added in all the fees it would be closer to the 300.  I bought mine in "like new" used condition, decently scoped for quite a bit less than that......I think it was the first time I lucked out in my life!

That's a bit high compared to what they are here, Wholesale Sports(Sportsman's Warehouse) sells em for $240 or $250 depending on wood or syn stock, Buds' has em for $248 and $255 shipped.

If there is one near you, a blued 45-70 with synthetic stocks was $229 at Academy Sports last time I checked, which was not that long ago.

I got mine a couple of months ago off GunBroker. Paid 219 plus 20 for shipping and 20 to my dealer. The tag on the rifle when I got it said 295. I guess price varies from place to place. It is the 22' Handi, blued with wooden stock. I have since changed the stock as described in anothe rpost.
