New hunting knife
« on: May 08, 2009, 08:12:36 PM »

I just picked up this knife last week, its made by Kizlyar and i got to say it fits in my hand very well. I have not used it yet because i have not had a chance to go hunting (still setting up my new rifle) but i can see that this knife will be a welcomed addition to my hunting gear.

Useful looking blade.  Apparently it's in 440C which is an excellent steel if it's been Heat Treated properly.

I don’t know much about steel (i guess that 440C is from some sort of grading system?)but it’s got a nice edge (as factory edges go, i can trim my beard with it). Plus i don’t mind the look of it but the true test will be when i go and see if it useful.

Very interesting design. Let us know how it works when the time comes.

Just came back from a small hunting trip,
for the story look for the topic “sneaked a bit of hunting into my holidays” in the Australia  & Pacific section

turned out to be a very good knife to skin and to strip down a carcass, all i had to do was run it over the diamond steel a couple of time and it was set to go.

I also bought a folding knife from the same company just for a everyday knife too.
