Haven't fished from the beach, but they just opened the longest pier on the gulf coast for fishing. It is something like 1,700' long out into the gulf. May have to pay to fish off it, since it is owned by the state. I have fished offshore with a party of 6 and brought home 6 gallon freezer bags of filleted fish (my share). Snapper, grouper, triggerfish, redfish. Boy they were good. Fished around the first of May. Cost was $100 each for 1/2 day starting around 7am.
