CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT THIS IS PLEASE??
« on: September 08, 2009, 09:11:45 PM »
Can anybody tell me what this gun is please. I found it in a ditch a couple years ago, I dont know what it is and Im wondering what it is. I am also wondering if I can take it to a gun store/gun repairman and get it restored. I would love too it is one of the things I would love to do. So if anybody knows what it is and if they think I can go get it restored please message me back I would greatly appreciate it...

What about the police department. NOBODY dumps a gun unless it is evidence.

It is a Derringer style.  Might be a High Standard from earlier days when they made those in 22lr and 22 magnum.  If that has been in a ditch for a while it is probably not serviceable and a gunsmith should be able to determine that.  Do you have any idea what caliber it may be????

I agree, turn it over to the cops. They will probably keep it ( the cops are robbers) but considering you can buy a double derringer for about a hundred bucks, brand new retail, it probably is not worth "restoring" anyhow.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

These derrings are not worth very much, maybe $75 brand new. Not worth restoring. What manufacture is marked on the gun and caliber?
Take it to police...might help them solve a cold case?

Im not gonna turn it over to the cops because My friend was at my house and he had it on him and he called me and said he lost it and a couple hours later I found it not in a big water filled ditch jus basically in my yard. My friend told me I could have it it was his dads he has had it forever so its not no evidence or nuttin I jus didnt want to tell the real story at first but I will now. It has no name or numbers or marking on the gun. I didnt know you could buy them for 75 bucks so I jus wanted to take it to the gun store and get it repaired...

Looks like a Davis that has seen better days.  These were made of a zinc alloy and chambered in smaller calibers up to about .32acp....gun store I used to work in sold them for $49.95.  It's a copy of a Remington derringer...doubt it's the real thing.  Does it work?
