Hi everybody, I acquired an original Remington rolling block action fitted with a heavy octagon barrel. The barrel is marked Numrich Arms 45-70 Buffalo, West Hurley N.Y. Does anyone know anything about this barrel, such as quality, accuracy potential, etc.? Thanks for any info.

For a number of years, when Navy Arms first brought in the Pedersoli rolling block(late 60's early '70's), they used Numrich barrels. Mine appeared to be cut rifled rather than buttoned or hammered. Mine always shot very well, especially with 500gr cast, and I have seen a number of them fitted out for BPCS. Numrich is one of the two largest suppliers of gun parts in the country and has been in business for many for about 40 years.

Numrich Use to sell the barrel, stock and forend for fitting on Original rolling block actions.

I built up about dozen of them back in the early 80's. I fit them on some old Eqyptian actions I got from Sarco. I'm sure a lot of others did the same. Look on the bottom of the barrel for the intials DBD and a date those are the ones I did.

Nothing whatsoever on the bottom of the barrel, but thanks for the info. I guess I will have to try working up a load and see how it shoots.

Hey, Double D!

When I find a Rolling Block rifle marked with that DBD on the bottom of the barrel, I will cherish it and keep it in the same high reguard as the P.O. Ackley-made bolt rifles I've seen!
