Alliant Power Pistol in 38 Special
« on: August 06, 2010, 12:37:41 PM »
The number that Alliant publishes for reloading 38Sp and 38Sp+P with their Power Pistol powder look pretty good to me.
Does anyone know first hand how it works in a 2" barrel?

I wondered that too!  If it works fine in short cases and compensators, then wouldn't it work good with a small amount of powder in a large case- using that high volume gas to fill the big case.... assuming it's ignition properties aren't compromised due to a lack of powder distribution, settling and muzzle orientation (gun tilted up or down and pulling the powder to or away from the primer/ignition).

Unless it's a real dense powder, I don't think it is a low volume load. Alliant shows loads with almost 1 grain more Power Pistol than Unique.
