Why are we not seeing primers yet!!!!!!!!
« on: August 19, 2009, 04:38:15 PM »
I want to get into reloading but I don't see the point when you can't find primers as of yet. WHY ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? The electon has been over for many months. You would think the people that are scared of not being able to buy anymore would have their fill by now. Could the current prez have anything to do with this? I really don't see how but it has been months and there are still no primers. The thing is you can not reload a shell without a primer. What do you think. Dale

I've been seeing them much more often Dale. In fact, I just bought another box of 1000 the other day.

I recently purchased some Rem. 9 1/2 LR primers at Scheels in Eau Claire, WI. Heard that shipments came in on Wednesdays. Was told to call at noon to put some on "lay-a-way". Called and was told their supplier had none for them that week. Called the next week.....none again. Left them my number and they did call Friday. Couldn't P/U until Monday, which I did. Shelves were empty of all brands when I arrived except the three measly 100 count boxes for me in the back! You can forget buying large quantity around here, and you obviously really need to stay on top of product arrival!

Strangely, I've been more or less immune to the primer issue. I haven't been shooting .45 nearly as much as I used to because of the bad winds and inclement weekends at my local range last summer and this summer. Also, I accidentally stocked up on bullets, powder, and primers prior to the elections. I didn't anticipate a shortage, it just worked out to my advantage that I missed the primer shortage and the spike in lead prices.

Had the weather been better, I would have been effected by this.

I have had to buy some shotgun primers during the past six months and have had no trouble finding them.
