Well, those of you who have been following the Talley sticky re: metal trigger guards and forend spacers may recall that I and other forum members found a fellow on Gunbroker who is selling brand new steel forend spacers. I bought the one he had advertised on GB, and then arranged to purchase two more as well, for a total of $45 shipped. Yup, three for $45. How long that will last is anyone's guess, but I feel these are surely under priced for the quality of work involved.
In my email exchanges with him, it turns out his son CNC machines these in his spare time, and that they are working on a program for trigger guards as well. Not sure when the guards will be available, but I got my spacers today and can only say WOW!
Very finely machined and surface finished (in the white, no blueing). These are obviously not castings, but fully cut from bar stock. Fit on my .30-30 Handi is about perfect, ditto on my Sportster. I have a third that is going on a as yet to be decided on project (Mannlicher stocked 7mm-08 or .500 S&W?). I am completely satisfied. If the guards ever appear, my order is in now!
The seller does not advertise here so I will not be posting any contact info, but if you would like to PM me I will be happy to put you in touch. I am still anxious to buy parts from Talley, but it is nice having an alternative source, especially as the spacers are ready now.
