Handloading for the .460 S&W Magnum

Looking over the components in my small handloading room,  I decided to order a .460 S&W mag barrel for my Encore Prohunter.  With 8 lbs. of Hodgdon H110, about 3 lbs of Lil'Gun, carbide .45 Colt dies and lots of .451 + .452 bullets 300 gr. and over, it seems like a good choice.  Also have 1000 Federal #215 Magnum large rifle primers on hand. ;D
The .45-70 Govt. is a great cartridge and may be a better choice but I will try the .460 for now. (I have a Browning 1886 .45-70 but it usualy stays in the safe.)
I ordered 200 Starline cases with the 20" Katahdin barrel last week and will try 300 gr. Speer JHP,  335 + 395 gr. Cast Performance LBTs.  It seems like the big ammo companies are marketing 200 gr. bullets at high velocity.  I guess speed sells.
Does any one shoot .45 Colt +P, like Buffalo Bore, in the .460 or is it better to stick with the .460 brass length???  Hope to make it go bang for the 4th......

Eddie, FWIW I get almost 2900fps with the 200gr Hornady FTX ammo from my 20" BC carbine barrel, accuracy is terrible tho,  I'm still working with handloads, the 250gr XTP mag is up next.

Appreciate any info you may develop on the 460. Ordering a 460 from MGM soon and plan on using 200 FTX and 250 Shockwaves/SST's from Hornady.

I have several observations/suggestions:

1.  I tried H110/Win. 296 in my Encore 460 S&W Mag. and didn't get the best accuracy with it.

2.  Read the thread in the Freedom Arms section of this forum on Lil'Gun and I suspect you'll never want to use it again.

3.  Only use 460 S&W length cases in a 460 S&W Magnum unless you want extraction/chamber problems later.

The above 1.5 inch three shot group was shot at 200 yards with my 460 S&W Encore handgun.  I won't post the powder weight on the internet since it's a hot load but, if you PM me, I'll be happy to give it to you with accompanying precautions.
