Looking at the shortage of posts around here, it appears that my good friends at Hunting in Montana have been doing the right thing and enjoying our all too short summers and not spending to much time on the puter.  Way to be!
I'll say one thing, I wont miss my Antelope hunt if I have to throw the critter over my shoulder and carry it all the way back to Missoula myself, if that is what I have to do.  I have wanted to Antelope hunt for so many years.  I am full of anticipation like a little kinder waiting for Santa Claus.
I am going to make a deal with my girlfriend that she cant refuse.   ;D  I agree, I should also bring the teenager so he can learn a little more before he is carrying a rifle on a hunt for the first time.  We'll see.
Enjoy our beautiful weather, just remember how blessed we all are here in Montana ;)
Gotta git'me a bigger ice box

Yeah, I need to get back in the habit saying good morning....

I am headed to the Sand Springs in mid-October to chase antelope my self.  Haven't been antelope chasing 18-19 years.  Looking forward to it.

Getting ready for the Harvest, should be any day now.

It has been quiet, what with me pulling two jobs, and the hours adding up over 50 hours a week and all.  Today I was out pounding the timber for either or sex whitetails.  I wrapped up the day at my uncles place, and he asked me not to bowhunt certain whitetails that he has there.  The smallish does with fawns of course, is a no brainer.  Then there is Mr Friendly buck, he is not a shooter buck as of yet anyway, as you can see from this picture below after I returned to my truck.  I had just come from the back of the house and there he was, just standing there.  I was able to get within about 10 feet before he decided "hey I don't know this guy".

So I grabbed my camera and at least got a quarting away shot for the pic, so he lives another day.

Having certain deer that stand around undisturbed are what I call bait deer.  Other deer seeing them will move towards them if they appear relaxed.  Has worked for me many time ofver the years.  When I was archery hunting a jillion years ago, I could even get those deer marginally conditioned to me.  As long as I made no quick movements they tolerated me.
