Bagara barrel extractor problem
«
on:

I have just recieved a Bagara barrel in .222. The extractor does not allow for easy insertion and removal of brass-which is not an issue with my TC barrels. Is their anything I can do to ease the tension the extactor exerts on the case???

I don't know if extractors are similar or not, but I would expect they are close. On my .222 TC barrel I bent it away from the shell a little so it didn't scrape the side of the shells so hard. You may want to see if that will help with your barrel.

A friend on another site mentioned the exact same problem with a Bergara .222 Barrel. To fix it he said he found the right size piece of rod, wrapped some fine sandpaper around it and lightly buffed the extractor and beveled the edges a touch. He said that fixed the problem.

Try the advice given by Larry (SD Handgunner). About a year ago, a new TC factory Pro Hunter barrel exhibited the same phenomenon for me, and I did something similar -- and the problem immediately went away.

Okay- so I removed the extractor (I hate roll pins!) and removed the pointy tips of the piece with emory cloth and a sanding stick. The cases now chamber and extract MUCH easier. I see why rimmed cases are preferred in single shots- unfortunately my barrels are in 222 .223 and 7mm-08- all rimless. Thanks a million for the advice guys.

Sounds good. Glad you were able to fix the problem. I have had a couple of T/C extractors that I have had to do that to also.
