Which cylinders like Clint Eastwood movie?
« on: May 13, 2011, 02:35:19 PM »
I have a .357 Ruger Blackhawk and I was wondering if there is a "aftermarket" gizmo that can be fitted to it that would allow me to which out cylinders without removing the cylinder pin from the frame like in an Eastwood movie?  That way I can reload at a faster pace.  Just thinking .... ::)

Where did you get the idea that Eastwood didn't pull the cylinder pin? On a Remington style cap & ball revolver the cylinder pin is retained by the loading lever, drop the lever and pull the pin. Watch the movie again and you'll see he does that.  That is a slightly faster way to reload a cap & ball revolver but with cartridges I think you'd loose more time fighting with spilled cartridges than you'd gain. What you really need is a double action revolver with speed loaders.

That's the gizmo that I was thinking of having placed on the Blackhawk and having a spare cylinder or two...just something a little different to have. ;)

A double action is nice but doesn't have the appeal of a western type revolver.

Thanks for the replies
