CZ 550 Safari Mag Question

I'm thinking about getting a CZ American Safari Magnum in 458 Lott. About the only bad thing that I have heard about them is a rough action that can be smoothed up. Anybody else have experience with this model? The front sight also appears to be interchangeable. If so, are they available from CZ or is there an aftermarket?

I opted for the no.1 stainless tropical in 458 lott.The sites are on the cz are progressive.You have three diferent ranges,I believe there set for 100,150 and 200 meters.Supposed to be a good shooter though.Good luck with what ever you go with.

I rechambered my CZ550 from a 458WM to 458 Lott about 2 years ago. Personally, I find the CZ very comfortable to shoot due to its weight. As a 458WM the CZ's are prone to feed problems (esp with Winchester 510gr soft points), I converted to 458 Lott basically to get more reliable feeding. Stocks can be prone to cracking as were the ZKK 602's, so I've added a second cross-bolt to avoid this (some add 2 additional cross-bolts). Otherwise great rifles...

When it comes to stocks cracking on the big bores, cross bolts aren't always a cure-all.  Proper bedding and a secondary lug on the underside of the barrel can really help distribute the recoil forces.

Folks  Are the new CZ 550 american safari rifle stocks less likely to crack than the older hog back stocks. The new am. stocks look to be very solid Just curious Thanks Duke45
