« on: September 03, 2009, 09:43:04 PM »
Hi,

I just found this picture on a German site and i was wondering if anyone has a plan or detailed images of this cannon?
They say that is is model copy a French naval cannon of 1820,bored 45mm.
I would be very thankfull if anyone has more info.
Here is a link to the pic,scroll down to;

It is possible that the barrel bears some resemblance to a real cannon, French naval, however the references for those are very scarce.  In my opinion the barrel is somewhat "comceptual" or generic and may not resemble any French naval barrel.

The carriage is quite far from any French naval carriage drawing I've seen, there are way too few steps for example  It looks more like a carriage you'd see in a cartoon, you get the idea what it is supposed to be, but it isn't realistic.

That is what i was thinking also,the carriage is too simple,although i like the shape of the barrel.
If anyone has a plan or drawing close to this,please let me know...

Since not everyone will go to the link you posted, I wanted to pull out this one photo, the one I like, of Rolf Auer and his 65mm cannon.  I particularly like the carriage, it looks like he's put a lot of work into that to do it authentically.  Very nice!

 Thanks Andre. If you pinball around from link to link, you'll see some interesting sights here. I like that spring loaded caplock (good idea) that's on those thunder mugs.
