« on: September 03, 2009, 03:52:16 AM »
I don't have any pictures but it has a long bbl. is about 90% condition, some holster wear on the bbl. and the smoothest trigger I ever felt. very light pull in sa mode. I just need a ball park guess on it's value. The serieal no. is K74634 a fellow wants to trade it in to me on a deer rifle and give me some boot.

About $300, it's a shame they don't sell for that tho. Still it is what I paid for the last one I bought and it appeared new and unfired but the box was in horrible shape tho the SN did match. That was several years ago and I just can't get used to the prices folks charge these days for them. I agree you'll be lucky to find one at $400 these days.

I have seen these guns go for pennies to thousands of dollars.  It depends on what the traffic will bear. Check this one out.

That one is a tad different a much older pre K22 designaion gun. They are far more rare than the real K22 Masterpiece and to a collector far more valueable tho to a shooter such as myself worth less.

The last K22 I had I bought at $300 and sold at same as that's what I personally still think they are worth. it was a 6" and had it been an 8-3/8" my preferred length I'd have never sold it. The next 8-3/8" I lay my hands on will be with me till I die. I've owned two or three in the past and like a fool let them go in trade on something else I thought I wanted more.

:o Graybeard, the 8 3/8" K caught my eye. I have 3 K's right now, all six inch models. I am very poorly imformed  on the variations of S & W pistols. But I usually check out all the K's I come across. Ihave seen several 4" models, and now wish I had bought one, but never an 8 3/8's. I will bet that was a real shooter. ;D

Yup all I've had were. I can't recall if that's two or three but it seems three. The last I had the front sight thinned a bit to make it a bit more precise aiming at small targets. My best friend Billy Doss now deceased and I shot matches at his back yard range. He used a Ruger Single Six 9.5" at times and at other times a Ruger 10" semi auto and other times an old High Standard he'd had an 11" section of a Marlin barrel mated to by a local gunsmith. It used TC sights.

We shot at NRA rifle silhouettes from 25 to 50 meters and a chicken silhouette of mine made as a swinger. It was about the size of a 50 cent piece. We shot six shot matches at it at 25 meters and it was darn seldom one of us failed to hit six of six and often we had to have shoot offs that could last three or four matches to decide. My S&W had the shortest sight radius of them all but held its own.

GB.  I just checked my records, my first K-22 was bought at the Bitburg AB, Germany Rod and Gun Club in July of 1972 for the grand total of $127.  At the same time my wife bough a Mauser HSc (>380) and paid $185. for it.  I haven't fired my gun that much, the cylinder was hard to open out of the box, I thought it would get better with use but it got worst.  It got to the point you had to really play with it to get it open, even then it was hard to do.  I know I should have sent it back but didn't and by the time I got around to thinking about it again six-seven years had elapsed.  During this period my guns were in storage, they wern't allowed in Spain so while there I stored them. I have another one that I bought used at a gun show in Jackson, MS, I paid $200 for it.  This gun has seen lots of use and was my prime carry gun for coon hunting.  It shoots great and is very accurate.

I have a K22 from 1948, no blue on the barrel from holster storage, otherwise in good condition with bright barrel and I wouldn't take a grand for it----in other words it is not for sale.
