Question on wooden stock USH?
« on: September 02, 2009, 10:08:22 AM »
Hello Fellas! I have a question about the butt stock of my USH. I'd like to take off the high comb monticarlo stock and get hold of a straight comb shotgun stock for it. Whats the chances of that workin out? Thanks! scout4<><

All stocks fit all modern made H&R single shots, forends may or may not depending on 12ga or 20ga.

Thanks quick! Now next is where's good place to get the stock? In the H&R site shows only rifle butt stocks. Thanks! scout4<><

Forends come from H&R also, most are listed in the retail parts price list in the FAQs, the 12ga USH takes a different forend, 20ga takes a regular forend same as Pardner/Handi. Do you have the Deluxe USH with laminated stock? They no longer offer the laminated straight stock, so you're pretty much limited to pallet wood with a low comb. Lots of stocks available in the Classifieds here too, another option would be just cut the comb off, strip it and refinish it.  ;)

Thanks again quick! Its the standard USH. I'm very much thinking of open sight on this gun, just feels to bulky with the scope an mounts, don't really plan on any long shots with it. So the high comb stock won't work to well with open sight. Thanks again for the info! scout4<><

All you need to do is swap the butt for a standard pallet wood shotgun stock, the forend is already a pallet wood which is the standard walnut stained hardwood, order part #S00777, $26.80. Brownell's also carries it for more money, but their shipping may be less I think, it will have a butt plate instead of a recoil pad. #S00876 is a Handi version with a recoil pad, it costs more at $38.10, if you're gonna upgrade the pad to an aftermarket, I'd put the extra money on the pad and get the S00777 Pardner stock.

Okay! Thank you very much Sir! #S00777. Goin to my smithy tomorrow for the sight, which works out good for us! Have to get a hammer spur for my sons new H&R 308. Then to the range to see how it shoots! which is the same direction as the gun smithy's shop. Works out just as dandy as can be! ;D Thanks! scout4<><

scout4,

I have a standard Handi stock you can have. It is in good shape, has a plastic buttplate, not a pad.
