I bought one as my first handgun in the 1980's. Loved that gun. I shot a very informal 22 league at the local sportsmans club for several years, the guys always gave me hell for having a barrel that reached half way to the targets.
I then bought a Browning Target 5.5 and sold the Ruger to a friend.
About a year ago I found another Blued Ruger with a 10" barrel at a good price and brought it home. I put Pachmyer grips on it, shot it one afternoon and put it back into the safe. It seems the Browning has spoiled me, I have also purchased a Browning Sihlouette with a 9 7/8" barrel that rarely gets shot.
My intent was to improve the Ruger trigger with some Volquartzen parts and shoot it but simply have not yet. I do prefer the Ruger over the long barreled browning mostly because of weight and balance
