Hi guys,
after not doing any trapping for over 20 years, I have decided to get back into trapping a little. Nothing much just a line of 1/2 dozen traps over 3 day weekends and such.
Do you know of any web sites with instructions on how to skin skunks without winding up smelling like one? When I was a kid it didnt matter that much, but as a adult, with a fairly public job, I probably shouldnt show up to work smelling that way. I plan to target coon and grey fox, but there are tons of skunk around here, and I KNOW i will accidentally catch some.
Thanks ahead of time for your help.

Unless the skunk has sprayesd its fairly easy to tell where the glands are located. Make your cut between the vent and the base of the tail and carefully cut around the glands leaving a small patch of fur where they are located. I doubt any fur buyer would dock you because of this small patch of fur being left on the carcuss. Once you have cut around the glands carefully cut from the glands up both legs and ring the ankles. Peel the hide like you would any other critter. I always like to milk the skunks before I skin them. Its like empying your rifle before you clean it. I don't have a very public type of job, but my wife tends to not let me in the house if I smell even a little bad. Don't know how many times I've had to strip down to my unders in the freezing cold because of a frisky skunk.
