Marlin 1894P 16" Ported 44 Mag NIB
« on: June 17, 2009, 11:48:21 AM »
Just found one after looking for one over a year, but it has a $600 price tag. This seems a bit pricey to me and he wants to do a trade for my NIB Rossi 92 44 Mag 20" barrel model.

I would like to do the trade for his NIB 94P but not sure what I should try to get. Even trade? Maybe my 92 and $200?

The little Marlin sure feels sweat in the hands, but so does the Rossi. Also when did Marlin stop making them?

The 1894P is worth every penny of the asking, NIB - as it's a fairly rare gun, with not many made (from 2000-2002).

IMO you'll be doing very well to get one, for the Rossi + $300.

NIB Rossi 92 44 plus $300 ?!?!

That is undervaluing your Rossi quite a bit. You couldn't replace it for less than $500+

I'm with buck - keep it. And I like Marlins. Unless your wanting to scope it?

I like the Marlins for the ability to scope or peep sight easy and the 16" is about right to use as a SD rifle for home or the car, and I can get a new 92M tomorrow for $500 OTD at two shops in town, but if they were to order new ones it would be closer to $600 due to price increase.

If you've been looking for over year, then you really want one.  You can buy another Puma 92 any day of the week, but I've never even heard of this model of marlin and I'm guessing that the reality is you're not going to find another one anytime soon.  If you really want it, buy it and try to work out the deal.  If nothing else you'll have a rare rifle that you could sell if you end up not liking it.

Guys,
Check out Budsgunshop.com and you'll see you can get a Puma delivered to your FFL for under $450.

Well, I don't know what I don't know.

What I DO KNOW, however, is that I've bought two new BrazTech Rossi M-92's in the last 30 days - a 16" big loop .357/.38 for $450, and it's twin in .45 Colt for $360, from two different local pushers.

They're being peeped, and will join my M1894P, which I scout-scoped many years ago.
I'm looking forward to enjoying each one, for what it is: a "Monday" gun, a "Tuesday" gun,........ ;)   ;D   ;D

I bought my 1894 P new in 2002 for $400.~  I thought that was a bit high then.   Nice gun.  Never had a problem with it.

Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Rangr44, if you could send me the info on where to get an M92 for $360, I'd appreciate it. I've called, checked the internet (never mind shops here, they're $750 if they get them in). Thanks!

The local discount gunshop, where I paid $360 for my .45 Colt M92 big loop told me it was a "close out", as it was a "Legacy" (LSI) and the latest shipments are all "BrazTech's" - so I would think it was NOS there or elsewhere, that they discounted deeply to move.

I KNOW it was an exceptionally low price - Why do you think I jumped on it ? (Besides the fact that it's a twin to the Braztech .357 that cost me $100 more 2 weeks previously  ;) )

I only got it by accident/luckily, as I wasn't even looking another M-92 when I went there - I went there shopping for .357 ammo.

I learned, long ago, that when opportunity knocks, I'd better open the door - and not go ask someone if it's a "good deal", first.

Had my little 94 P to the range a while back and it shoots like a dream, at the 25 yard side I was doing about 2" group with some Remington factory hardball off hand. But I only got to shoot about 12 rounds before the sky opened up and flooded the world. I plan on giving it a go one day this week maybe, but tomorrow is some plinking with the 94C and some 38 Spl hand loads. No ear protection required and no sore hand or shoulder if gun is shouldered wrong.

Waldo, I'd say just buy it outright. It's worth the 600 he's asking. Then sell your gun to someone who is not a dealer. Or offer him your gun and $150.00.

How used is your gun. As long as it looks good it should be worth 450 but not to a dealer. He will need to make a profit on it and 450 is about all it's worth in good used condition.
