Hello SavageT,
The Magellan Pioneer is a 2 parallel channel receiver. It will take forever to lock on and drive you crazy. The newer units use 12 channels and lock on much faster. I had an old Magellan 2000 that was a 2 channel and I wasted a year trying to get that piece of crap to work like I wanted.
Sell it to you brother in law you don't like, them blame him for breaking it when he can't get a position fix either.
............Thanks for clearifying that lock-up problem. I was wondering if Magellan now calls their model "Pioneer" a "GPS 310"? It's described as being a keep it simple GPS.
