Turkey hunting in the fall is generally considered tougher than the spring.
This is because the Toms have mated and no longer are interested in the hens.
The birds usually travel in two groups at this time. Gobblers and young Toms in one type of group and hens with poults in the other.
A typical tactic in the fall is to try to locate a flock, bust it up and then sit down and try to call back members of it.
If you're calling to hens then hen yelps or lost yelps is what you want to try. If you're calling to Tom's then use Tom calls. I've read that you have to wait less time after breaking up a hen flock than a Tom flock to start calling the members back. This makes sense since I would think that the hens would have a maternal instinct working against them if they were travelling with poults.
Sounds of fighting, purrs, will attract individual Tom's as will Tom yelps in the fall.
My personal opinion is that stalking isn't going to work as well as sitting unless you have something to mask your sound like light rain.
Good luck!
