I went through the trigger system and, like you, I did some reshaping and smoothing. I casehardened parts because I found them dead soft, like a nail, and doubted my trigger job would hold for long. I just used "casinit" and a welding torch to put a skin on the soft steel. I really haven't shot the PSL much lately, I just rather quickly lost interest in it because I never did get very good accuracy, not good enough to justify the weight and bulk of the rifle, and the scope is a POS, which I think does hamper accuracy.
