After I shot the 2nd group to make sure the first was not a fluke, I went and bought a lottery ticket. I didn't win. The only thing I did to it was to put a rubber O-ring between the stock and barrel, where the barrel screws into the forearm. I don't know if that helped or not, since I did this before I shot the rifle. Also, soon I'll be starting on another box of the Federal ammo with a different lot #. We'll see if it still shoots as good. The one negative to this ammo (if indeed it is a negative), besides the price, is that past 100 yards, the bullet drops like a rock. However, since I bought this rifle to use during Mississippi's Primitive Weapon Season (regs changed a couple of years ago to allow this), I am used to not shooting past 100 yards anyway. Since most of our stand locations only allow a 100 yard shot, this allows me to use this rifle without much misgivings. I will say (much to the chagrin of all the purists out there) that it sure is nice not having to clean my rifle after each time shooting it.
A final comment: I'd find it hard to believe that other handi's out there will not shoot this ammo as well out of their rifle. I'm just not that lucky. Not to hi-jack this thread but I wonder if anyone else has tried this ammo in a handi and what sort of accuracy they are getting. Just a thought.
