Stuck Barrel Nut On A Dan Wesson
« on: September 25, 2009, 06:56:46 AM »
Just bought a 44 SS mag. with a 4" comp barrel. Went to loosen the barrel nut to adjust the barrel to cylinder gap and the nut wouldn't budge. Iv'e heard some horror stories of messing up the nut trying to loosen it. So I soaked the nut with Kroil penetraiting spray overnight with the muzzle in a verticle position. It lived up to its reputation for loosening frozen nuts and bolts. Placed the barrel tool over the nut and two lite taps with a plastic hammer broke it loose with out messing anything up. Thought I would share this experience with other Dan Wesson owners.
