This is coyote scat, right?
« on: October 25, 2009, 03:02:43 PM »
I'm assuming these photos are of coyote scat.  Or could it be from a fox?  I used the quarter in the one pic to show scale. They were full of fur.  One was clearly old, but the other was still moist and stinky.  Not that it matters, but I took these pics at Black Moshannon State Park in PA.  Thanks.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not seeing the hair/fur in it I normally do but that might just be cuz of the definition in your photos.

The quarter came from my pocket.  I used it to show scale.  Could it be poop from a chupacabra?  ;) ::)

Unless hair/fur is evident in it then more likely just a stay dog.

I agree, but will add it's probably not a dog that's been straying for very long, either.

You could always pick it up, go around to your dog owning neighbors and go "Does this look like your dog's poop?"  If they say yes, chuck it on their lawn and go home.

The only way to be sure is to compare it's flavor to know coyote scat from that area.

(somehow never posted it on GBO I guess years ago when I posted it on many of the other gun boards, but it's here now.)
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

The one on the wood planks looks like a hairball barfed up by a cat.
The other looks maybe like its from a fox.
