Center fire to rim fire conversion on an Encore frame ??

Hello All.
  I just got myself a stainless Encore with a 209X45 muzzleloader barrel. I put the frame on my handgun permit so I can also use it as such.
What I am wondering is.... Is there a special conversion of some sort to be able to shoot rim fire cartridges using this frame ?? I didn't even check to see if there are barels available in .22 mag or long rifle for the encore frame. But just thought I'd inquire.
I had a friend that had one of the old contenders and it was just a matter of flipping a piece on the hammer to change from one to the other. I see nothing that simple on the Encore.

I believe a couple of the custom shops offer the rimfire fireing pin conversion for the Encore.  Also I saw one custom shop OTT I believe that does the rimfire without the conversion by offsetting the barrel or something like that.

I do belive Bullberry and Virgin Valley make convertions for around 35.00. That hex head screw above the firing pin removes the firing pin asm and face plate and you replace it with the RF one. I think all the RF bbls are custom though.

I was looking at the center fire setup and wondered if anyone had come up with a replacement firing pin and plate assembly that would move the pin either up or down enough to strike properly on a rimmed case. If no one did. I was going to see about maybe playing with something on my lathe and mill some time in the future. That is if I decide to get anything in rim fire for plinking and varmints, or there is even a call for it.

         Give Mike a call at OTT(603-750-3232) and can fix you up with a rimfire barrel that doesn't use the adapter block, just knock out the hinge pin and install the rimfire barrel like any centerfire barrel. I have the very first one he made marked "Prototype No Adapter" 22 L.R. Match. It is 18 inches long and full bull and will do less than 1/2 inch with most ammo including the cheap stuff, ironically the worst groups were with match stuff. Sure is a breeze to change barrels without having to keep up with a separate breech block. Mike will listen to your wants when it comes to barrels. He is making my next barrel now, it's a 357 Max. for my Encore pistol. Part of the fun is looking and dreaming up what you want.

OTT's Rimfire Barrel

I have one of Mike's barrel's on order from OTT. I liked the idea of not having to use a conversion kit to change out the firing pin position and eveyone says they are really great shooters!

How is the bore off centered ? I know it still has to be centered to the left/right line of sight. But is it above or below the horizontal center when looking at the chamber and the muzzle end ?

      The barrel uses a slightly taller barrel lug so the bore sets higher and your ignition is on the bottom of the case. Love my 22 l.r. barrel from OTT, wouldn't trade it at all. Mike is a great guy, give him a call.
