I've got an NEF Pardner .410 that I've had for 16 years come this Christmas (thanks, Santa Claus). I've always shot Remington #4 or #6 3" shells out of it, and they've always done right by me. Recently, I've been seeing some 3" Remington shells loaded with #5 shot at Wal-Mart. I'm not going to abandon #4 or #6 shot any time soon, but the #5 shot makes me curious.
I got the #6 shot for squirrels and rabbits and the #4 shot for possums and other similarly sized pests. I've since used #6 shot on possums and found it to work just fine (also works for snakes, but I should probably look for some #7 or #7 1/2 for that, I guess).
So, I guess the question is, what does one do with #5 shot that can't be done with either #4 or #6. Also, has anyone tried the Remington #5s and if so, what was your opinion of them? I may pick some up just to try anyway, but I figure it can't hurt to ask.
