Availability of 327 Federal Brass
« on: September 28, 2009, 04:11:37 PM »
I'm seriously considering ordering a Model 97 in the 224/32 caliber, but I'm concerned about not being able to find 327 Federal brass.  None of the suppliers of brass that I regularly use carry any, and I saw on a recent post from Bob Baker that FA is out of 327 Federal.  The 327 Federal cartridge hasn't been a big hit, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it phased out by the few manufacturers that currently chamber revolvers for it, which would probably mean the death knell of the cartridge.

Does anyone have a Model 97 in 224/32, and if so, are you able to obtain 327 Federal brass?  Does FA have a guaranteed supplier?

Check with SSK Industries. JD keeps quite a good supply of brass on hand at all times. I am not sure if he stocks that one or not but I'd sure ask.

Hi. I've got one, ordered 200 rounds with the gun, they should last quite a while. I don't know of another source for 327 brass.

I don't own one yet, but I shot Bob's quite a bit this past summer. It'a wonderfully accurate revolver, and should be good for 200 yd. rockchucks and groundhogs and perhaps almost that far for prairie dogs, if the shooter is very very capable.
