Coyote- fox-bobcat and the 223?

I ordered a Stevens 200 .223 today. This is my first time with a .223 so what bullets would be a good fit for coyotes-foxes-and bobcats. I want a small hole in and no exit. Thanks, Don

Had my .223 barreled with a 1-14 twist as a prairied dog rifle..Have shot a couple coyotes with it ...I usually use vmax or blitzking,but don't worry about fur as it is worth little..you might try the barnes varmit gernade...shot somechucks with it and my 22-250 excellent...should be a good fur bullet...

I would also try the Blitzkings or V-Max bullets.

I have used the V.G. 36gr for coyotes, DRT. I have some 50 gr TNTs that may not destroy fur but haven't tried them yet on yotes. Anyone have any experience with the TNT hollowpoints? I have some Varmint Grenades in 30 gr I thought would be good for fox. They say on box Hornet but I talked to a guy at Barnes when they came out and he said I could use them in 223 and 22-250. Haven't got around to it yet. Too much time on here. Bet they would be cookin out of a 22-250 if they stayed together. I thought of loading them down a little in 223 for fox. I like the length of them for 30 gr. they are long as they are not lead. They shot pretty good out of one of my Hornets but I went in too many different directions and haven't got back to testing them. Load something and go shoot some and see what they do. Don't think yotes are worth anything but if you find a nice one you don't want to blow it up. Fox and cats are not hard to kill so I would load down if going for them specifically. Good Luck!

I have a Stevens 200 in .223 as well.  Great gun.  I use Hornady 55gr V-MAX and SP factory cartridges.  The Stevens has a 1:9 twist, so I would keep bullets in the 50gr to 69gr range for best results.  Anything heavier needs a faster twist to stabilize, and anything lighter might spin too fast and come apart on you.

1 in 9 is not too fast for a 40.  I'm using 55 vmax with a max load of H335 and even @ 100 they blow right through.  About a quarter size exit hole with a few fragment holes.

Right now I'm using a 52 grain match grade hollow point loaded by Blackhills. Coyote, Fox, Bobcat, feral hogs (biggins). It does it all.

My buddy loaded up some 50gr Varmint Grenades over 27gr of H335.  My Stevens 200 in .223 likes these very much.
