I have the exact same one you are talking about.  All of Tikka's have a butter smooth action and exceptional triggers.  I wouldn't trade mine for anything.  I shoot the Winchester 150 grain Ballistic silvertip and can routinely get 1/2"-3/4" groups from that.  I have never had one problem with the rifle.  I can only recommend it.  Great shooter, light weight.  You will probably want to get a different ring set up.  I did and it works great.  I believe I have a burris base and rings but I frankly do not recall.  The triggers are terrific on these guns as well.  Frankly, I was looking at a Win. model 70 because I wanted something American but after trying about 50 of them at every gun shop I could find none of them broke clean and they were terrible triggers.  I just thought what else might be junk inside if they couldn't even spend an extra .50 cents to get a decent trigger.  I guess that is why people stopped buying their over priced, under achieving rifles.

Good luck.

I have/had the exact same rifle if you are looking at the blue/synthetic model.  My youngest son now has it, I gave each of my three children the pick of my rifles and ended up swapping out Kyle's choice with my Tikka Lite 300WSM.  The rifle has the smoothest action of any rifle I have ever cycled the action on, and that is about every over-the-counter rifle out there including Weatherby, plus an excellent trigger without having to replace or adjust it.  I only shot my own handloads in this rifle and was shooting 165 Hornady SST bullets into a cloverleaf at 100 yds.  That was with the original factory supplied rings, but Kyle didn't like them and opted for a set of Luepold two piece standard bases and rings, which by the way, was probably a smart move.  I have to warn you, though the recoil didn't bother me at all some that have shot my Tikka off a bench complained a little about the kick, but shooting in field conditions never seemed to bother them.

I have 3 Tikka T3's and am trying to stop myself adding #4!!! The largest caliber I have is 308 nothing like what you are after. They do have the slickest bolts and greatest triggers, plus they put the round where you want it to go. What is not to like? Hope you get it soon and let us know how it performs. My last one was in 243 and it just plain shoots!!! I have great loads for 55gr, 60gr and 85gr bullets which all shoot lights out.
You may want to consider a Limbsaver recoil pad in anything more than 308!!

I have to agree with all that has been said. I have a T3 lite stainless in 300wsm and It is smooth and shoots very well. She does have a bit of a thump so I second the limb saver. I would also recommend upgrading the rings because eventually with that kind of recoil, you do not want to take a chance with the aluminum rings that eventually supplies. Good Luck.

I'm curious why buy a T3 Lite in 300wsm. Wasn't the idea behind the WSM to give near 300WM ballistics in a short action rifle? My understanding is that all T3 Lites are long action. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct about all Tikkas being long action.  I liked the balistics of wsm and I already had the dies.

Yeah, you are right that the actions are long. But my T3 lite (300WSM) only weighs about 6.5 lbs with scope. Thats alot lighter than your normal 30 cal guns.

Get a limbsaver pad for that Gun.

Another post reconmended the limbsaver pad and I am happy to have followed the advise
