swede 96 safety
« on: October 08, 2009, 10:58:46 AM »
hello,  i also posted this in the military surplus post.  i have a 96 mauser i would like to switch the safety on.  it seems the bold trigger group wit the safety would be the easiest and the cheapest.  on the original if the safety is in the up position(operate the bolt but not fire) the bolt could and would slide open.  anyway my question is if anyone has used the bold trigger group and if the bolt can still wiggle open as it does in the old stye safety up position?   i called bold  to ask if would do this and they didnt really know so i hope someone out there has the answer before i go through the trouble.   thanks.

I'm a little uncertain that I understand your question but I believe I do.. The bolt on your mauser will open accidentally when the tag safety(the original safety) is in the off safe position.. You want to know if the Bold trigger system would allow the same thing and the answer is - yes. The Bold trigger system replaces the current trigger and the safety si,ply locks the trigger to keep it from releasing the striker. The 98 mauser uses a tensioning device to help control bolt rotation with the safety disengaged. The 96 Swede lacks this feature..
