I have quite a bit of experience with the Ruger P series. The P-95 is the basic duty issue for the agency I just retired from, and for which I was a firearms training officer for. With each successive model, the P series have been improved to the point where the current P-95 is a fine weapon for the money. The Rugers tend to be very reliable, with very decent triggers. If there is a weak spot in the system, it tends to be with the magazines, which do not seem to stand up to hard use as well as some others, such as the Glock or Sig. Mind you, I am talking about hard use, IE being dropped repeatedly on concrete, stepped on, ect.
The Rugers are kind of like the AK-47 of semi auto's. They are a little bulky, and not as polished as say, a SIG or S&W, but make up for it in reliability and good feel in the hand, as well as good service accuracy (most seem to do about 2-4 inches at 25 yards with decent ammo). When my agency first went to the Ruger from the SIG's, (low bid to save money) most of us were pretty upset, but time has proven the P series Rugers to be very good weapons. Just keep them clean and they work.
