Both of my sons bought ruger p95's this past summer. They both like them. For the money they are a real good deal. We did have a mag release catch problem with one, and had to send it back to Ruger. The turn around time was unreal. Back in the house in one week with no charges. Can't say enough about that service. The p95 is quite accurate too. I'm going to pick one up for myself this spring. Those young men of mine shoot alot and the guns have never had a problem, other than the one mag release, and that was right away. Probably a bad spring from the get go.

Have a current production example, has functioned flawlessly, with the exception of a few minor hiccups with very mild handloads.  Ammo loaded to anywhere near duty level runs through it with no trouble.

I believe that the P95 is now discontinued in favor of the SR9.  Got a very good deal on mine, but if you want one, better get to the gun shop pretty quick

I have quite a bit of experience with the Ruger P series.  The P-95 is the basic duty issue for the agency I just retired from, and for which I was a firearms training officer for.  With each successive model, the P series have been improved to the point where the current P-95 is a fine weapon for the money.  The Rugers tend to be very reliable, with very decent triggers.  If there is a weak spot in the system, it tends to be with the magazines, which do not seem to stand up to hard use as well as some others, such as the Glock or Sig.  Mind you, I am talking about hard use, IE being dropped repeatedly on concrete, stepped on, ect.

The Rugers are kind of like the AK-47 of semi auto's.  They are a little bulky, and not as polished as say, a SIG or S&W, but make up for it in reliability and good feel in the hand, as well as good service accuracy (most seem to do about 2-4 inches at 25 yards with decent ammo).  When my agency first went to the Ruger from the SIG's, (low bid to save money) most of us were pretty upset, but time has proven the P series Rugers to be very good weapons.  Just keep them clean and they work.

The P95 is still on Ruger's site--so I don't think its discontinued.

Have 2 of them---and probably be picking up a 3rd by the end of the year----excellent guns.

I got caught sleeping the other day and missed out on one that was in really good shape for sale at $225.
Original owner, he bought it for a house gun and had put less than a box or so down the tube.
The thing had barely seen daylight, spent most of it's life in a warm padded case in the night stand. :(

A large local dealer here sells them new with a blue slide for $269.95 as their everyday low price.
Is that a good deal?

It's a great gun and Ruger is a great company. My old PD we were issued the P89, then went to P94. It's not a sig or a glock, but just as reliable, just not as pretty. They are a fun gun to shoot and own. As far as Ruger customer service, I purshased a used revolver with a defect, my fault. Ruger fixed it, reblued it and sent it back for free. Turn around time was good.

They are really fun when you run a 35 round clip thru a couple of times in quick succession.  I load up a cast 122TC bullet for plinking and they are a hoot.  Never had a problem.

I got mine in 1995 the first year they were on the market and I think I paid more than that!

Mine is the stainless version and the only complaint I have had with it is the slick smooth plastic grip. It gets quite slippery to hold onto with sweaty hands. I put a Hogue Hand all grip on it and solved the problem.

It looks like the new ones have a stippling molded in so that shouldnt be a problem now.

Very accurate and reliable.

I've had mine for almost 7 years now.  No clue how many rounds through it.  If I had to guess I'd say around 1500.   The only problems I've ever had with it were when it got a little dirty and the extractor didn't want to grip the cases.  A good cleaning solved that though.

Other than that, it's a solid, reliable, and fairly accurate gun.  My only complaint would be on the ergonomics.  Not really comfortable to hold, but that's subjective.
