Thought I would tell everyone about another bad experience I had with Midway today. This one really makes me mad and I have decided to never do business with them again.
I was online looking for a pair of aftermarket grips for one of my Blackhawks. I'm scrolling through the 11 or so pages on their website in the section for Ruger Blackhawks. I run across a grip I like that was on sale at $33.10. So I put it in the cart and keep shopping. About 10 or so minutes later I decide I've had enough and go to check out. I go through all the screens to the end where you put in the credit card number. There I notice the price says $64 buck and change!! What the heck?? I got back to the cart and it says $33.10 !!! I go forward all the way to final order confirm and it says $64 bucks & change!!
I call the 800 number while I have the screen up and I tell the CS person what I'm seeing. I give her the item number and she says the $64 bucks & change is correct..... Okay, I ask her, it’s in my shopping cart at $33.10! what gives....she tells me I'll have to talk to someone else. She turns me over to a supervisor (I guess) and she proceeds to tell me that the item came off sale from the time I entered in my cart to the time I got to check out!! I told I want it for the price that it’s in my cart ($33.10). She dialed into my account and confirmed it was in the cart at $33.10 and refused to let the sale go through at that price! I asked her if they are in stock and she said yes, but I'd have to pay the new price. When I asked her if she thought this was a fair approach she said yes, because Midway wanted to sell the excess inventory on that grip at the sale price and until the excess was sold and now they are at the correct inventory level and the sale is off. I reminded her that it's already in my cart and the price you let me put it in my cart at. She said, sorry there's nothing I can do and she asked me if she could help me find another grip. I told her only if you'll help me at another on-line merchant! She politely said I'm sorry and then I said so am I that after 20+ years as a customer I done with Midway and hung up.
I have had occasional issues in the past with Midway but never enough to really pizz me off like this one. Last issue was with cleaning supplies. They did not pack them correctly and a small container of gun oil opened during transport. I've never had this type of BS happen with Cabela's, Budsgunshop, GeorgiaArms, Midsouth or any of the others I shop with. Usually the experience is good and if I've had an issue they fix it. Midway seems to take the position they do no wrong. Who knows, maybe it's just my experience with them, but I'm done with Midway after many, many years.
