I see they make sights for the GPR has anyone tried them? How do they mount? Pics?

I'm 46 and having trouble with open sights. T/C are ok and Lymans are large and XS has them for GPR with stripped front sight combo. But I have never seen one on a muzzleloader. That is why i'm asking. Thanks

There are very likely several other disscusions here in the archives, just go to the bottom of the page and scroll back pages and look for topics.

alot of guy's that can't see proper iron sites are changing to fiber optics, you can generally go to any sports shop and shoulder a gun with fiber sites to see if that helps. If it's the front you can't see well, a little light colored fingernail polish or white-out painted on the post helps too.

Same here with the old eyes, the state doesn't allow optics during muzzleloader season, so I use a Williams WGRS without the aperture as a ghost ring, works very well and doesn't cost near as much as an XS. Williams also make a ghost ring aperture for it, but I like the ability to just screw in an aperture when needed.

Like Quickdtoo, I also use the WGRS on my CVA St Louis Hawken.  I too remove the aperture when the need arises.  The Williams WGRS was the only peep I could find that would work on that short tanged CVA.

QTD and Ironwood did you need to drill and tap the barrel to install the williams or are they mounted on the tang? I like the size and price. 222

My barrel had to be drilled and tapped, it fits on the flat of the barrel ahead of the tang like Ironwood's, they make others that may work on the tang tho.

I would have liked a tang mounted sight. Not being able to find one that would mount on the CVA short tang.   I ask that the sight be mounted as near the breech end as possible.  My gunsmith didn't like drilling a hole right over the chamber so he drilled only one hole over the breech plug.  He ask me if I thought I would ever want to remove the sight and I told him I doubted it.  He mounted the sight with the one screw and gorilla glue.  The sight has been on there for several years now with no indication of loosening.
