I picked up a new TC G2 last winter in stainless and 50 cal. Outfitted it with the Leupold 2-7 ultimate slam scope, and lost the composite stock for some walnut to add some weight. I've got about 150 rounds through it and am not there yet. After all that I finally got a " group" of about 3" at 100 yds.  The best combo has been 2 triple seven magnum pellets, remington kleanbore primers and tc shockwave superglide in 250 grain. Does anyone have this rifle and any pet loads for it? I started with the BH and lehigh 250 grain in a harvester black sabot with 80 , 90,100, and 110 gr. I will try the BH again this weekend with the tc 250's. The IMR white hot and lehigh didnt work as I sent one through the target sideways at 50 yds with a yellow harvester sabot. Some of the black harvester sabots seemed to have burned through the bottom with the BH crescent moon at the base. Lastly there seems to be alot of blowback even though it is a silver gun. There is residue on the scope, trigger guard, and inside the frame. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jason

100 grains blackhorn 209 and a 250 grain shockwave shoots great out of mine. I know it kicks pretty stout I need to get a scope with better eye relief. I shot it a few times the other day and the scope touched my brow but didn't break the skin or bruise me. Be sure to check your breach plug and make sure it isn't partially stopped up. I had a problem with mine hangfireing and having a lot of blowback and believe it to be the primers were old and had partially closed up the hole in the plug got some new primers and waiting to get a chance to shoot again to verify. I didn't have any problems at all with this setup last year. I killed a small buck with it last year at about 120 yards with this setup.

I have the G2 in 209-45 and wood stock and a 3x9 Bushnell and I shoot 225 power belt with one tripple 7 pellet and at 65 yards I get about a 2 inch group have not loaded it any heavier as I was just target shooting.

Thanks for your replies, the G2 looks better than it shoots for now. I'm just all to familiar with my Knight MK 85 carbine and how it performs. Heck the barrel looks like craters on the moon but is still a tack driver. I chose the G2 for the size and weight but alas lost the composite to add the weight back... also for looks. I have not used any breech plug tape or anything for the blowback, it never had an O-ring on it, was it supposed to? I just used a little bore butter on the threads. Do you guys pull the trigger mechanism out to clean on a regular basis to clean? I havent yet. Heres a few pics

try some winchester  standard 209 primers!!! I tried 777 primers and they had a ton of blowback. winchesters are dirty but no blowback!!!

I'm starting to think it's not me and it's the gun. I have been through about 300$ in loads and am still not there. I made sure everything was tight and then noticed there was some movement in the barrel /frame assembly. Lets say there may be about 10 inches of side to side travel while looking through the scope at 50 yds. Yes this is the hinge pin area, and I can move it back and forth side to side on the horizontal axis. Best group saturday was 5" at 50 yds with BH 209, and 250 TC superglide shockwaves. Without moving the scope settings I cleaned the gun and went back to my best load to date triple 7 magnums with the same bullet. There was nothing but inconsistent shots. Mind you I was shooting off the lead sled with 50# of shot on it. I have now ordered some oversize hinge pins to check and compare fit. I feel the next step is to try again with lighter loads and thoroughly clean after every shot, say 80 grains BH and the Lehigh .452 200grain, with a triple seven primer. Frankly with all I have invested in this gun, I can shoot better at 50 yds with my bow. Thanks , Jason

I used to shoot triple seven and if you run a wet patch down the barrel in between shots and are loading it back before it is completely dry it will be all over the place. I used alcohol soaked patchs that would evaporate quickly between shots. I don't know if that info helps you any but before I went to oversize hinge pins I would be contacting T/C and get them to fix whatever is causing that much slop in the hinge pin area. If you are shooting off a lead slead with a lot of weight on it make sure the frame hasn't cracked. I bought a brand new G2 stainless a couple of years ago and took it to the range to shoot it for the first time with the .50 caliber and 30-30 barrels and it had a lot of slop in the hinge pin area after shooting it a few times. I got to looking and the frame was split in the front where the two ears go up against the barrel on both sides. I don't shoot with a lead slead (don't have one) But if your shooting hot loads in the muzzleloader barrel using a slead maybe it has done some damage from the heavy recoil? I sent my frame back and it was replaced (Of course that is another whole story in itself) and the new frame seems to work fine with all my barrels. Have you tried different barrels on the frame for fit? Either way contact thompson and ask to speak to Roland Eldridge or Ernie French and explain what you got to them and they will get right for you.

Finally getting there. I hit the range today at 8:30,with the mindset that I'd rather be accurate than fast. I started with 80gr of BH and a 250 Lehigh in a Harvester  for .452 for less than 300gr. 25 yds bull. 50yds 2 touching on two distinct groups. 100 all around the bull.......But! I tried to swab between shots and that resulted in hangfires 1/4 sec or so from hammer falling. I was done cleaning and ran 5 more with tc fusion primers since the cci's were hanging. Is the magnum reccomended? Thanks in advance, jason
