44 Mag Crimp help

Yesterday I slipped out to the local pistol range and was playing with the big bore revolvers (the over 40 crowd)
While shooting my M29 with some 180 grain lead rounds.  I normally load 180 grain plated bullets for this load.
I load blue dot to about 1,000 Fps.
While shooting a box of shells yesterday i had one round jump out of the case.
How do I stop this from hapening?
Do I run all the lead rounds back through the crimp?
Do I just shoot the lead ones out of my 44 single shot?

I would re-seat them and make the crimps a tad deeper.

There is probably more than just crimp going on there. If your sizer die is sizing them correctly and if you are using bullets of proper diameter there generally should be enough case tension that with such light loads they won't jump crimp as long as you have any crimp at all.

You might want more crimp but I think you also need to look into why you have so little case tension on the bullet. Check the ID of case and OD of bullets. The bullet generally should be a minimum of 0.003" larger than case ID and it doesn't hurt if a wee bit more.

With cast bullets you need to have a heavy crimp. you cannot have to much crimp on cast bullets  that is why most cast bullets have a crimp groove. if yours dont switch to one's that do it will save you a lot of headaches. I will try and post a picture later of the 44mags I load.......... basically just crimp it so the edge is all the way into the crimp groove. When using cast bullets in big bores they require a heavy crimp.
