Encore 15 inch Pistol 209X50 Velocities
« on: October 08, 2009, 03:18:40 PM »
I finally chronographed my 15 inch Encore 209x50 pistol.  I'm shooting two 50 pellets of T7 and a TC 200 grain Shock Wave. I was surprised to see 1500+ FPS. I think the lower velocities were do to me not seating the bullet as firmly on the powder charge.

Interesting, I have never run my load in a chrono and am sure its a tad slower as I am using about 70 - 80 grains of Goex FFFG black powder with a Hornady 300 grain XTP bullet.

Those are pretty impressive velocities from a 15" barrel Jay.   Should be good for deer out to 75 yards with no problem, or even 100 with a carefully placed shot.  I shoot a 210 grain Gold Dot out of my 41 Mag Blackhawk at 1550 fps and have no worries on deer at those ranges.
