On that first Christmas night of old,
When stars were hanging low,
As shepherds watched their sheep at night
With campfires all aglow,
Appeared the angels suddenly
To sing of Jesus' birth;
They told the shepherds God's own Son
Had come that night to earth!
So the shepherds went to Bethlehem,
By holy messengers led,
And found our Savior nestled warm
In a humble manger bed.
They searched; they found; they witnessed;
And now around the earth
We celebrate the wonder
All find in Jesus' birth.
