Bowling ball delivery to heaven
« on: October 15, 2009, 12:44:06 PM »
Today  we scattered a fellow hunters ashes over a hunting ground . I bored out the thumb and finger holes on the Bowling ball . Just enough to hold the remaining ashes . The rest of Ashes were scattered from Arizona to Montana . All of the fellows favorite hunting spots. Some were delivered out of shotguns mixed with the quail loads , some sprinkled @ favorite big game sites. Todays spread went real well  The ashes stayed in the ball till it hit top of trajectory , then left a white vapor trail as it came down . Beautiful day , his buddies were pleased . May his soul be forever free roaming the happy hunting grounds.

1Southpaw,
It sounds like your friend had some good friends; nice gestures.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

Hey Southpaw, he also had good taste in movies, that was a great flick; I remember that the actor's name (the pilot riding the bomb down like a bronc) was Chill Wills.

I was part of a similar farewell a few years ago.  I never knew the man, but when it came time to fire the cannon, it had a hang fire.  When it finally went off, the woman who was firing the cannon he was in was so surprised she had to change her clothes.  What's more, the wind had shifted, and another fellow ended up getting a faceful!  Apparently, this all was just like the deceased, and the widow thought it couldn't have happened more appropriately.

Personally, I'd love to be shot out of my cannon when the time comes.

Ex 49'er,
You're absolutely correct! Yeah, and I had the right face in my minds eye; I always get these two actors names confused.  Well, I rode the bomb down into flames on this one. :-[
