Youth sidekick thumbhole.
« on: October 18, 2009, 03:36:40 PM »

Purchased a Sidekick from "ncsurveyor" off this forum for cheap,
This was to be a low dollar gun for my kids to hunt with (10-12)
Added an MU plug
I cut the barrell to 20", picked up Boyds thumbhole 2nds for ~$40 and cut 2" off of it, ground the pad the some what fit.
Painted the stock and foreend green, so they are the same color, cut the ram rod down, mounted a Bushnell Banner 2-7x36.
I really needed to raise the comb about 3/4", I was in Home Depot and walked by a bin of $7 soft rubber knee pads, cut one down to size
and epoxy-ed it on, not to pretty but works PERFECT!

I got good groups on the 1st trip to the range (~3-4" at 100 yards), I am heading back to fine tune the load,
hope to get 2" at 100 yards.

Good job SD. Anything that gets the kids out shooting is a good project. How did you mount the ramrod thimble?
