410/45LC survivor rifle

Are the 410/45 colt survivor guns marked on the receiver or only on the barrel? I saw one for saletoday at the pawn shop, the barrel was marked but the receiver was a standard SB1, I was courious if it was a factory assembled gun or did someone put it together?

Frames are not marked, only barrels are marked and the marking doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the frame type, for example, 357mag and 44mag barrels that are marked SB2 are currently factory offered on SB1 frames. A factory fitted barrels should have the last three digits of the frame serial number stamped on the left side of the underlug.

So other than the fact that the barrel is 410/45 survivor and has the stock then it would be safe to assume that it is a standard sb1 frame and probably came from the factory this way....  why do they only put bead sights and not rifle sights or drill and tap the barrel( i would drill and tap it my self).  I already have a couple of other 410s including a tamer so ability to change back and forth in the woods would be more of a bonus, however if I wanted to shoot a deer at say 50 yards would I be able to hit it and KILL it? can it use standard 45LC ammo including the plus P or would it be limited to 45LC cowboy ammo? I have seen the info on the 45mongo and because of the softer steel would prefer to stay spec ammo verses custom higher pressure rounds......Is there a rifled slug that would shoot decent in the barrel or has anyone tried shooting slugs in it.....

With the amount of freebore with .45 rounds I wouldn't think hot loads would bother it.
I could be wrong though.

The 45/410 barrel is rifled, but as Spanky said, the long jump to the rifling would stifle the +P loads enough they shouldn't be a problem, they're no higher pressure than 44mags which come on SB1 frame, so neither the frame or the barrel should have a problem with them. If you  have the barrel drilled and tapped for a scope rail, you shouldn't have any problems with 50yd deer, maybe ever 75-100yds, give it a try, some have said with optics they can hit clay birds at 100yds, with the right load it could be good deer medicine.

I picked one of these little fellers up at a gun show a few weeks ago. I got to shoot it today, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. (especially after all I have read about that long jump to the rifling with the 45 colts) With 225 grain Winchester silvertips, and only the bead sight, I put 2 rounds touching  in the bullseye and a 3rd an 1" to the right at 10 yards. Not very far I know, but not bad for offhand shooting with bifocals and a bead sight. Stepped back to 20 yards and they climbed about 4", and the spread opened up to about 5". Ain't no tack driver, but I wouldn't be afraid to shoot at a deer at 20 yards. (with a little more practice, and a tree to lean against.) I do a lot of hunting in thick woods where a 20 yard shot is a long one. I just set up a Marlin levergun in .41 mag for my primary deer rifle, but for wadin' through the briars on a rainy day, the Survivor will get the nod.

yep i'd say if you can group that  yur in the kill zone for sure, amazing  how far 20 yds is in thick cover hahhah sounds close but till your there  you dont know
